Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Mission, intends to provide housing for all in urban areas by the year 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government is giving subsidy to people who buy flats or houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Mission provides Central Assistance to the implementing agencies through States, Union Territories (UTs) and Central Nodal Agencies (CNAs) for providing houses to all eligible beneficiaries against the validated demand for houses for about 1.12 crore.
As per PMAY(U) guidelines, the size of a house for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) could be up to 30 sq. mt. carpet area, however, States/UTs have the flexibility to enhance the size of houses in consultation and approval of the ministry. Note that March 31 is the revised deadline to avail interest subsidy under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) for the middle-income group. Middle-income group I & II (MIG – I&II) to avail up to Rs 2.65 lakh interest subsidy on buying a house in the affordable housing category subject to certain terms and conditions.
