Google rolls out spam protection feature for Android users

Tech giant Google has started rolling out the spam protection feature for its messages app for the Android users. According to a report by Android Police, the spam protection feature is now live. Many of the Android users are now seeing a message ‘New! Spam protection’ soon after opening the Messages app.

The report added, “The change appears to be server-side and in a limited rollout for the time being, as other devices we’ve tested, including my own, don’t have it just yet. When it does hit your device, you should see a notification similar to that above when launching Messages.”

The users will also have the option to manually disable the feature by going to Settings and then tapping on the Advanced Menu option.

The company claims that the new spam detection feature will enhance the company’s ability to detect the future spam messages for the users. In the past also Google has said that the Messages app is its primary communication solution for its users. The company also announced that it is killing its instant messaging app Allo so that it can completely focus on improving the SMS experience on Android.

The company said that the Allo messaging app will completely shut down by March next year. In an official blog post the company said, “Allo will continue to work through March 2019 and until then, you’ll be able to export all of your existing conversation history from the app. We’ve learned a lot from Allo, particularly what’s possible when you incorporate machine learning features, like the Google Assistant, into messaging.”
