e-SHRAM has been developed for the overall welfare of crores of unorganised workers of the country. To extend the benefits to unorganised workers of the country, the e-SHRAM portal will be seeded with their Aadhaar cards. Also, after registration, e-SHRAM card will be accepted across the country.
The Labour Shramik Card will have details of name, occupation, address, educational qualification, skill types and family details, etc. for optimum realisation of their employability and extend the benefits of the social security schemes to them. It is the first-ever national database of unorganised workers including migrant workers, construction workers, gig and platform workers and others.
“In times of any national crisis like COVID-19, financial help through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) will be transferred directly in the bank account of the Unorganised Worker, registered on e-SHRAM Portal,” EPFO tweeted.
All registered unorganised workers will be provided the accidental insurance coverage through Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) for a year. It will also be helpful for State & Central Governments to provide assistance to eligible UWs in case of any pandemic/ calamities. The registration has already started on 26th August.
Process to register for Labour Shramik Card
1. To register the e-SHRAM portal, login to the official website at eshram.gov.in.
